Monday, 28 August 2017 15:13

Three years have already passed since Ilovaysk tragedy.

On August 28, All-Ukrainian NGO "Association of Wives and Mothers of Soldiers Participating in ATO" held an event to commemorate the deceased Defenders of Ukraine.

The main purpose of the event was to draw the attention of the authorities and society to the rights protection of women from the fallen soldiers and war veterans families and to demonstrate their support to mothers and wives who lost their relatives in this terrible war.

The event was held near the Wall of Memory in St. Michael`s square in Kyiv centre. Hundreds of people, together with the families of fallen and missing soldiers were commemorating fallen heroes not only in Ilovaysk but all the defenders of Ukraine. Mothers and wives of the fallen soldiers spoke out from the stage and told about their feelings, memories, and problems. Women voiced their urgent problems they had encountered and the most frequent cases of their rights violations. No participant of the event remained indifferent after the women speeches. Among the officials who attended the event, there were Ms. Natalia Fedorovych, Deputy Minister for Social Policy; Svyatoslav Stetsenko, Representative of the Commissioner on the Protection of Servicemen's Rights; Semen Semenchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defence; Mikhail Morgulis, Honorary Ambassador of Belarus in Florida.

During the event, a memorial service for the fallen defenders of Ukraine from a priest of the Mykhailivsky Monastery took place.

Dear moms, wives, sisters, children! You are not alone. Our unity and mutual support are our strength, strength to live and preserve the memory of our sons, parents, brothers, husbands.
